CHARLOTTETOWN – For the fifth year in a row, APM employees joined together to complete the annual Brown’s Volkswagen Corporate Relay. This race is part of the annual Prince Edward Island BMO Marathon which breaks the 26 mile route into eight shorter legs starting at the Dalvay Hotel on PEI’s North Shore and finishing in Downtown Charlottetown. This year there were over thirty-five eight member corporate teams participating in this growing eighth annual event.
Breeon Jenkins, an accounting technician with APM, captained the APM team along with fellow runners Kate McKenna, Jon Barrett, Holly Barrett, Jim Banks, Darcy Murnaghan, Steven Jackson, and Cheryl Molyneaux. Ms. Jenkins said, “We’re very happy with this year’s 3:46 minute finish as it shaved several minutes off our last year’s success.”
“We always have a lot of fun at this relay,” said Breeon, “This year was no different. We had a really strong team and enjoyed training and supporting each other up to and including the day of the race.” She said “We couldn’t be happier with our results as it’s very encouraging to be under the four hour mark.” Some of the team even joked that “we’re quicker this year as our CEO was away and couldn’t join us.”
APM has a continued focus on workplace health and has been recognized throughout the years as being a leader in this field. They are designated by PEI Active Living as a “physically active workplace” and employees are encouraged to stay physically “active” and use the company’s gym at APM MacLean. Ms. Jenkins added “Congratulations to all the sponsors and organizers of this event for a job well done and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year.”
