MONTAGUE - It's an enormous undertaking but the regional high school here is hosting an event this month that will bring 1,000 students and teachers to eastern P.E.I from September 17-21.

The Canadian Student Leadership Conference (CSLC) will feature a four-day event offering keynote speakers like retired General Rick Hillier and countless workshops on leadership, growth and development.

along with the University of Prince Edward Island, Holland College and others have come on- board as Diamond Level Sponsors of the Event.

The week features motivational speaker Ian Tyson (not the famous Canadian folk singer) along with P.E.I. comedian Patrick Ledwell, former VJ Jessie Cruickshank from MuchMusic, and many others including APM CEO Tim Banks.

"The mandate is to help develop the leadership qualities of high achieving students," said teacher Mike Brothers, noting workshops will focus on everything from poverty and services to international development.

Usually hosted by a larger centre, Brothers said it's a great way to market the school, the region and eastern P.E.I.
