Developer Jamie Hill describes announcement as a big boost to business confidence on Island.....

SHERWOOD - After months of business discussions, Jamie Hill, owner of Northcom Business Centre, is confirming that UPS will be the anchor tenant of the new business centre in the Sherwood Industrial Park.

Mr. Hill acknowledges that the presence of UPS will improve the caliber of the industrial area, encouraging other large-scale tenants to take residence in this established business hub.

Northcom Business Centre is expected to become a business attraction with UPS as its anchor tenant. Coupled with its ideal location, top-notch facilities, and competitive rates, the other units are expected to be leased shortly. Mr. Hill says that discussions have been underway, but that he will not confirm who those other tenants are at this time.

“It’s an ideal location for any scale of business,” says Mr. Hill. “It’s adjacent to the bypass, next to the airport and less than ten minutes from downtown. It’s a perfect location for businesses needing access to Charlottetown or to any rural part of PEI. That was one of the reasons behind UPS’s decision to move here and it’s one of the major selling points for any business interested in relocating or opening.”

Founded in 1907 as a messenger company in the United States, UPS has grown into a multi-billion-dollar corporation by clearly focusing on the goal of enabling commerce around the globe. UPS is a global company with one of the most recognized brands in the world. Delivering to more than 220 countries and territories around the world, they are a global leader in logistics, offering a broad range of solutions including the transportation of packages and freight; the facilitation of international trade and the deployment of advanced technology to more efficiently manage the world of business.

Tim Banks, CEO of APM who is building the service mall for Mr. Hill, says that UPS will be a welcome addition to the local marketplace.

“UPS is an international leader in package delivery and is a respected company worldwide. This business is a welcome addition to the Northcom Business Centre community and we’re looking forward to signing other reputable leases for this business centre in coming months. This is a big boost to local business confidence and it’s great that a multi-national business is investing in our Island economy.”

Mr. Hill says the building will be ready for occupancy on July 1st, 2012, and that the UPS Centre will open September 1, 2012.

The new service mall, located at 410 Mt. Edward Road, has available units for retail, service, office, or light industrial business. Tenants will be offered highly competitive rates in receipt for top quality location in an established area of the Island. The spaces will be built-to-suit for any interested tenants.
