Minacs Brings Jobs to Strait Area

Minacs is turning its long-running success in Nova Scotia into a story of expansion.

Minacs, an international business-process outsourcing company, plans to create up to 350 jobs in Port Hawkesbury. The province, through Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), has authorized a payroll rebate for Minacs to a maximum of $2,684,500 over the next five years.

Premier Rodney MacDonald made the announcement today, June 15, at an event in Port Hawkesbury.

"Nova Scotia's skilled workforce and strong communities are the foundation of our success today and into the future," said Premier MacDonald. "We're happy to see Minacs' dedication to Nova Scotia extend to Port Hawkesbury."

The payroll rebate with Minacs will be invested as the company reaches its job targets at its new Port Hawkesbury location.

"Minacs' expansion and the province's investment will create jobs in rural Nova Scotia, providing opportunities to keep talented workers in their home region," said Economic Development Minister Richard Hurlburt.

Minacs has been operating in Nova Scotia for about 10 years. The company has more than 600 employees working at its Halifax location.

"We've experienced Nova Scotia's competitive advantages first hand and we know Port Hawkesbury is the right fit for our expansion," said Jeff Williams, executive vice-president, sales and marketing for Minacs. "Nova Scotia's people, infrastructure and educational system provide us with a workforce that delivers world-class service to our clients and we're very proud to further expand our footprint in the province."

Community partners, such as APM Group landlord Tim Banks, were instrumental to the transition process for Minacs. NSBI worked directly with the community of Port Hawkesbury to find the right organization to capitalize on the region's strengths.

"This announcement proves that the business case for Nova Scotia is solid, and strong, world-leading companies continue to choose to locate and grow here," said Stephen Lund, president and CEO of NSBI.

For an opportunity to meet with the recruitment team, career seekers, with their resumes, are invited to the Minacs Career Open House today, June 15, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. or the Minacs Career Event on Saturday, June 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Those who are not able to attend can apply online by visiting
