APM CEO honoured with Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal

Oct 29 2012

CHARLOTTETOWN - APM CEO Tim Banks says he is surprised and honoured to be a recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

“It means a lot to be recognized by the community that has continually been supportive of my ideas and businesses.”

One of the most prestigious awards offered to Canadians, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal was created to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.

Though prior commitments forced Tim to miss the Award Ceremony held in the Memorial Hall of the Confederation Centre of the Arts, the presentation recognized Tim as:

“Contributing to his community through philanthropy, creating business
opportunities and advocating business development in Prince Edward Island
for over 30 years. Tim has worked to encourage Island youth to stay and
invest in their own communities. Many people say that a job is the best
social policy, and Tim Banks has created many jobs for Canadians over
the years.”

A couple of weeks ago, Senator Percy Downe and New Brunswick MP Dominic Leblanc were able to visit Tim’s office and personally present him with his medal.

Tim says that the recognition is a very humbling experience.

“I have a sense while some may question my aggressiveness to develop I’m just trying to move forward building and it’s pretty nice when you get this kind of recognition for doing so, it is really nice.”
