Charlottetown.

CHARLOTTETOWN -
A crowd of over 200
people were in attendance Thursday for the official opening of
APM’s new head office in Charlottetown.
The Island-based construction services company opened their
doors to guests to showcase their new Head Office-Service
Centre. On hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the official
opening included many friends of the firm, an array of Prince
Edward Island’s business community and representatives of the
Government of Prince Edward Island, including Premier Robert
Ghiz who cut the ribbon with APM President Tim Banks.
"Prince Edward Island is fortunate to have someone with Tim’s
entrepreneurial spirit, proving that Island companies can
compete outside of our Province on the national stage and around
the world" said Premier Robert Ghiz upon the cutting of the
ribbon. "APM is ‘building across Canada’ creating
significant investment in jobs here on Prince Edward Island at
this new ‘service centre’ and also through APM’s continued
support of Island firms, who provide sub-trade work for their
off Island projects".
Banks thanked his staff "I owe all our success to a talented
group of employees who have the experience and drive to criss-cross
the country completing construction projects
on time and on budget." Banks said, "it is a tremendous asset
that has been developed by each one of our over 200 employees
and they are not afraid to step up and go where the work is."
The company has continued its growth since formation in 1980 as
a local construction management firm to constructing
multi-million dollar real estate projects across Canada for
local, regional, and national client partners including Sears
Canada, Canadian Tire, and Loblaws.
Identified as APM MacLean, the new four storey head office will be
the home of the "service centre" for the firm as it consolidates
its engineering, accounting, and design groups into a single
office which will provide support services to the company’s
operations across Canada; including offices in Halifax, Toronto
and Calgary.
APM MacLean is located at 3 Lower Malpeque Road, just off the
Trans-Canada Highway, and easily identified by the firm’s logo
on the vibrant green accent tower.
Why green? "We incorporated a number of green -
environmentally friendly - initiatives into the construction of
the building and we wanted to highlight this in some way"
explains Banks.
