New Coast Guard facility opens in Stratford

Oct 25 2012

STRATFORD - The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) has relocated its warehouse and outdoor compound space to Stratford, PEI, beside the Storemark property located at 11287 Trans-Canada Highway following extensive renovations by APM in order to retrofit the property to CCG requirements.

The facility is the location for the Coast guard’s Marine and Civil Infrastructure (MCI) Buoy Operations Division. The Stratford facility will employ five staff members who will perform important marine navigational buoy maintenance tasks such as washing and cleaning buoys and welding, cleaning and painting of the metal structures and navigational lights used by the Coast Guard.

This is no small task considering the number and scope of the Coast Guard’s infrastructure projects throughout Prince Edward Island. Throughout this project, APM understood the importance of the MCI division and made it a priority to ensure that close attention to detail and quality was made in order to house their operations.

APM Properties General Manager Heather Joudrie welcomes the opportunity to work with the Coast Guard on this project.

“The work performed at this site will improve the efficiency of our Coast Guard so they’re able to continue the important work they do for the public.”
